Cut Resistant Gloves

By Becky Bug

Cut resistant gloves will protect the chef at home or at work from cuts and scrapes that may endanger their health and safety. It is important at home as well as in a professional kitchen to protect yourself from cuts, bacterial contamination is of great concern and so is the loss of fingers.

Today, there are several manufacturers that make cut resistant gloves and they make many different types of gloves. The level of protection needed depends on the job you are doing. The material used to make the gloves and the types of protective coatings added to the gloves are what is very important.

First, determine the level of protection you need for yourself and then begin shopping for the proper glove. You do not need an expensive glove that includes metal mesh if you are only doing light home duty work in your kitchen.

Victorinox makes a great glove for home use, Forschield gloves. Saf-T-Gard makes a stainless steel mesh glove for more industrial use. The choice is yours to make based on your individual needs.
