Santoku Knives
A Santoku knife is one knife a serious chef should have in the kitchen. If you intend to slice, dice and mince you will need a Santoku. The Santoku was originally designed and manufactured in Japan. The Santoku knife is thinner, lighter and yet wider than a chef's knife. The typical Santoku is 5 to 7 inches in length. The design of the blade gives the knife the ability to make very precise cuts. The design makes the knife well balanced, more so than a chef”s knife, thus a better knife for the chef who needs to make precise, smooth cuts. A Santoku is more suited to the chef with smaller hands than is a chef“s knife. Many female chef's prefer the Santoku design as they find it more comfortable in their hands. If you want to keep the number of different knives to a minimum in your kitchen and yet you need a lot of versatility, condsider a Santoku knife. |
